About the Committee

Working together to manage human-wildlife conflict across Nepal

Our Mandate

The Human-Wildlife Conflict Management Committee (HWCMS Nepal) was established to coordinate response, verify claims, and implement mitigation strategies across Nepal. We work with local governments, conservation organizations, and communities to reduce human-wildlife conflict and ensure fair compensation for affected families.

Our Approach

We take a multi-pronged approach combining rapid incident response, community engagement, and scientific intervention. Our committee brings together government agencies, wildlife experts, and local stakeholders to develop context-specific solutions that protect both people and wildlife.

Compensation & Support

Affected families are entitled to compensation for crop damage, property loss, injury, or loss of life caused by wildlife. Our streamlined claims process ensures timely verification and payment. We also provide technical support for implementing preventive measures.

National Coverage

Operating across all seven provinces of Nepal — from Koshi to Sudurpashchim — our committee works at the grassroots level with district coordination committees and local authorities to ensure comprehensive coverage and effective conflict management.
